Heatwave takes heavy toll on people‍‍`s lives

 

In Burichang upazila, people's lives are suffering due to continuous heat waves. Normal activities of people are becoming fragile. Upazila residents are disorientated by the intense sun and heat. Working people are suffering. In this situation, the number of diarrhea patients has increased. Doctors have advised not to go out unless it is very necessary. Unbearable heat inside and outside. Burichang upazila is suffering from continuous heat throughout the week. Traffic has decreased on the busiest roads of the upazila. No one leaves the house unless necessary. Many people were seen resting under the shade of trees on the roadside to escape the heat. And there is no end to the suffering of working people.

Various areas were seen in upazila, there were not many people on the streets due to the intensity of the sun. Vehicular movement was seen less. Pedestrians are trying to get some protection from the heat by pouring water on their faces and heads.On the other hand, the number of people affected by various diseases including pneumonia, diarrhea, fever, cold, sore throat, and cough has increased due to intense heat. Most of the victims are children and the elderly. Rickshaw driver Sohel Mia said that it is difficult to drive a rickshaw due to the heat. If I don't drive a rickshaw, how will I maintain my family?

Abdul Quddus, a juice seller in the Nimsar area of the upazila, said that juice is being sold more than ever in summer. However, due to the excessive heat of the sun, people are coming out less. If there were people, the sales would be more.

Dr. Mir Hossain Mithu, Burichang Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, said that in intense heat, the body loses water. Also, due to low air humidity, the body quickly becomes dehydrated. As a result, dehydration occurs in the body.
